JOHOR: Lincotec Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has commenced construction of its advanced semiconductor technology manufacturing facility at Senai Airport City Free Zone, marking Linco Technology Co Ltd’s first manufacturing investment in Asean and underscoring Malaysia’s growing role in the regional semiconductor ecosystem.
The facility, to be developed on approximately 10 acres of industrial land, represents a strategic long-term investment by the group to establish a manufacturing base in Southeast Asia. The move is aimed at enhancing supply-chain resilience and supporting the increasing demand for advanced semiconductor manufacturing across the Asia-Pacific region.
Upon completion, the plant will support thin-film sputtering and dry plasma etching process tools and manufacturing systems, enabling higher levels of process integration, operational scalability and manufacturing capacity. The facility is expected to serve customers across Southeast Asia and the broader regional market, reinforcing Johor’s positioning within the high-technology value chain.
Lincotec Technology (Malaysia) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Taiwan-based Linco Technology Co Ltd, a specialist in sputtering and plasma applications since 1999. The group is globally recognised as the world’s leading supplier of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding sputtering equipment for semiconductor System-in-Package (SiP) applications, with technologies deployed across 5G smartphones, artificial intelligence, satellite communications and next-generation electronics.
According to Linco Technology general manager Ray Liang, the new facility represents a strategic expansion in Southeast Asia and our long-term commitment to the semiconductor industry. Through advanced equipment manufacturing and sustainable practices, we aim to enhance supply chain capabilities and support Malaysia’s growth in high technology sectors.
The investment aligns with Senai Airport City’s objective to promote green and high-value industries as Linco Technology focuses on a sustainable environment, innovation and a diverse inclusive society.
Senai Airport City chief executive officer Gan Seng Keong said the Taiwan company’s investment strengthens Johor’s position as a high-tech industrial hub and reinforces our focus on green, knowledge-intensive industries. Collaborations like this will create high-skilled jobs, advance the semiconductor supply chain and drive sustainable growth for the state.
With established industrial infrastructure and connectivity to major highways, ports and Senai International Airport, Senai Airport City continues to attract advanced manufacturing investments. The integrated industrial hub currently supports anchor sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), advanced electrical and electronics (AE&E), EV automotive and medical devices. To date, it has generated approximately 30,000 jobs and drawn in RM9bil in investments, with additional foreign direct investments expected in the first half of the year.
