KUALA LUMPUR: Homevest Sdn Bhd and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enter a strategic partnership to implement innovative solutions in smart city developments.

Huawei Malaysia will be equipping Homevest’s smart city developments with ICT infrastructure to optimise economic and environmental sustainability while improving the quality of life for its customers.

Homevest, which deals with property investment, management and development, is in the pipeline of developing a sustainable smart city ecosystem to meet the demands of concentrated urban growth and population.

The company will be designing a series of co-living and co-working spaces incorporated with smart living technologies. With advanced technologies and smart amenities integrated into homes, Malaysians will benefit from a city lifestyle that is more efficient, productive and sustainable while enjoying greater purpose and social connection.

The smart city concept has become an integral approach to sustainable urban development in many developed and developing countries. Technologies such as advanced wireless networks, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) and intelligent operations centre (IOC) are key solutions, which make smart city initiatives possible.

In the smart city sector, Huawei Malaysia focuses on information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and collaborates with partners to orchestrate a robust smart city ecosystem with comprehensive solutions for customers. For Homevest’s smart city development, Huawei Malaysia will be providing a wide assortment of ICT products and solutions, including IoT communications modules and operating systems, wired and wireless access, agile networks, cloud-based distributed data centres, and Big Data platforms.

“Huawei remains committed to working with customers and partners in accelerating digital transformation within the organisation. The collaboration with Homevest will see a joint innovation on the development of intelligent lifestyle and smart community, embedded with future technology powered by Huawei’s cloud & AI technologies to benefit the residents and organisations for economic growth, social benefits, and environmental sustainability,” said Huawei Malaysia cloud and AI business vice-president Lim Chee Siong.

“Homevest is proud to work with Huawei Malaysia as our partner of choice to introduce innovative smart home solutions to the community through smart city living. The partnership is fully aligned with Homevest’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals. Our vision is to create a world shaped by smart-living communities with close-knit relationships,” said Homevest founder and group managing director Datuk KY Lim.

“In our future roadmap, we see ourselves as the preferred property development company with a focus of driving sustainability in smart city development while creating long-term value for our shareholders and homeowners,” added Homevest co-founder and chief executive officer Datuk Marcus Low.

Homevest is a recent winner of the Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCIM) Sustainable Development Award (SDA) 2021 for a corporate social responsibility project initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic.
