KUALA LUMPUR: Eupe Corporation Bhd (Eupe) has announced that Jaya Grocer will be the anchor tenant in the commercial precinct of its upcoming Edgewater development in Sungai Petani. Scheduled to open in early 2028, this will be Jaya Grocer’s first store in northern Malaysia outside of Penang.
The official signing ceremony between Eupe and Jaya Grocer marked the start of a strategic partnership in one of Kedah’s fastest-growing regions.
“We are delighted to welcome Jaya Grocer as the commercial anchor of Edgewater. Their presence recognises the growth of Sungai Petani into a market that now requires a more refined and diverse retail mix, one that matches its expanding population, rising spending power and modern lifestyle expectations,” said Eupe group managing director Datuk Beh Huck Lee.
“Edgewater gives us a strategic foothold in northern Malaysia and brings premium grocery shopping closer to the growing community in Sungai Petani. Through our partnership with Grab, customers will enjoy a fully connected experience from fresh produce in-store to seamless on-demand delivery, making everyday shopping faster and more convenient,” said Jaya Grocer chief executive officer Daniel Teng.
“Having Jaya Grocer at Edgewater introduces not only future residents of the development but the wider Sungai Petani community to a new ecosystem of retail choice, convenience, accessibility and competition. Edgewater’s core motif, Life Refreshed, captures our commitment to refreshing how people live, shop and interact. This partnership is a key catalyst in revitalising one of northern Malaysia’s most dynamic regions,” added Beh.
