PETALING JAYA: Tropicana Corporation Bhd (Tropicana) is transforming into a diversified real estate platform by expanding beyond township development into hospitality, recurring income and asset management.
Tropicana has partnered with Accor to launch Malaysia’s first branded Accor condotel, Mercure Living Genting Highlands at Tropicana Grandhill. This agreement enhances project positioning and buyer confidence by integrating a globally recognised hospitality brand. Owners will benefit from Accor’s extensive services, aligning with Tropicana’s vision of creating integrated, sustainable townships.
“For more than four decades, Tropicana has established itself as one of Malaysia’s leading township developers. The collaboration with Accor demonstrates how global hospitality partnerships can unlock new value from our developments and create professionally managed lifestyle assets that benefit homeowners, investors and the wider community,” said Tropicana group chief executive officer Dennis Ng.
“Mercure Living Genting Highlands represents an exciting opportunity to expand our extended-stay offering in Malaysia through a collaboration with one of the country’s leading developers. As travellers increasingly seek accommodation that combines flexibility, comfort and authentic local experiences, we believe this development will be well positioned to meet those needs while contributing to the continued growth of Genting Highlands as a leisure destination,” said Accor Asia premium, midscale and economy division chief operating officer Garth Simmons.
“Genting Highlands has firmly established itself as one of Asia’s premier tourism destinations and continues to gain recognition on the international stage. With visitor arrivals surpassing those of renowned destinations such as Bali and Phuket, we are confident that demand from both international and domestic travellers will continue to grow. Mercure Living Genting Highlands is strategically positioned to meet this demand as the largest Mercure Living development globally. It will set a new benchmark for branded extended-stay hospitality in Malaysia,” said Accord chief development officer Asia Andrew Langdon.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Tropicana marketing, sales and business development managing director Ixora Ang, project managing director Loke Wei Feng, Accor development vice president Chris Cho and Accor One Living Asia Pacific vice president Lachlan De Morton.
The integrated model has potential for replication across Tropicana’s portfolio, particularly in tourism-led and lifestyle destinations.
