KUALA LUMPUR: Veritas Design Group (Veritas) successfully hosted its Lecture Series 2026, themed Connected Futures: Integrating Malaysia’s Transport Landscape, bringing together key leaders from government, industry, academia and the built environment to discuss the future of Malaysia’s transport infrastructure, regional connectivity, sustainability and digital integration.

The event, held recently at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur, featured a keynote address by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook who announced that the Cabinet had approved the Ministry of Transport as the single lead agency overseeing Malaysia’s bunkering sector. The policy aims to streamline administrative processes and support Malaysia’s ambition to establish itself as a green bunkering hub.

In his address, Loke noted that the move would create a more coordinated approval framework, enabling faster and more efficient processes while supporting the development of green bunkering capabilities. He also highlighted Malaysia’s strategic advantage, particularly its long coastline and the need to strengthen national competitiveness by moving away from fragmented, silo-based infrastructure planning.

The keynote closely aligned with the central theme of the Veritas Lecture Series 2026 which focused on the importance of connecting Malaysia’s transport systems across aviation, rail, maritime, road and public mobility networks into a more coherent and future-ready ecosystem.

Greater connectivity with other nations will enhance Malaysia's export market, Loke said.

In his opening address, Veritas group president David Mizan Hashim emphasised the role of architecture, planning and infrastructure design in integrating complex systems into a unified and meaningful experience.

“Our task at Veritas is to integrate the many complexities of systems, infrastructure, technology and modes of travel into a single coherent experience. When that is done well, these projects do more than function efficiently,” he said.

He further observed that many transport modes in Malaysia continue to be developed independently, with insufficient data sharing and macro-level planning. He called for stronger collaboration across sectors to better connect Malaysia to Asean, the region and global transport networks.

The Veritas Lecture Series 2026 served as a platform for cross-sector dialogue on three key themes: Asean Connectivity, Sustainability and the Low-Carbon Transition as well as Digitalisation and Smart Mobility Integration. Through these discussions, the event explored how Malaysia can strengthen its position as a strategic regional gateway while advancing more sustainable, inclusive and integrated mobility systems.

Veritas expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, distinguished speakers, sponsors, partners, media representatives and guests for contributing to a meaningful and timely conversation on the future of Malaysia’s transport landscape.
