MIRI: Part of a rural longhouse in northern Sarawak's Marudi district caved in following the erosion of a hill slope.

Marudi Civil Defence Department head Siti Naquiyah Abdullah said the hill slope started eroding on Tuesday afternoon.

At least 30 people from five families have been affected but there are no injuries or loss of life," she said.

She added that the residents of Rumah Damu have yet to be moved out from the longhouse as there are no available accommodation nearby.
