Petaling Jaya: KLK Land, the property arm of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) announced that electric vehicle maker BYD Company Limited (BYD) will be the anchor tenant at KLK TechPark, a 1,500-acre integrated industrial hub at Tanjong Malim, Perak. BYD is slated to establish its first automotive assembling plant in Malaysia at the site as part of Perak’s Muallim Speed-Lane (M-SL): Fast-Track Construction Project.
KLK executive chairman Tan Sri Lee Oi Hian said the group is committed to create a positive impact in Perak and look forward to work with the state government in moving the state towards high-value industrialisation.
“KLK TechPark is a long-term development made possible through close collaboration with the Perak state government. We are grateful for the support of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and State tourism, industry, investment, and corridor development committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, who were key in bringing all parties together,” Lee said.
Meanwhile, Loh said in a news report that the initial phase of the plant spanned 150 acres and vehicle manufacturing was forecasted to start in 2026.
According to KLK Land, KLK TechPark provides the infrastructure and ecosystem needed to attract high-value investments such as BYD to accelerate the expansion of Perak’s manufacturing base. The park is envisioned as a hub for advanced manufacturing and green technology.
