PETALING JAYA: JLand Group (JLG) has launched a green lease initiative at Menara JLand, making the property a green lease purpose-built office tower. The initiative is part of JLG’s broader net-zero 2050 agenda which includes adopting the Low Carbon City Framework (LCCF) in JLG’s townships, implementing internal carbon pricing, adopting green procurement and performing climate scenario analysis across its assets and operations.
“The green lease is part of how JLG future-proofs our developments while supporting tenants in aligning with national climate targets, investor expectations, and global ESG frameworks,” said JLG group managing director Datuk Akmal Ahmad.
The initiative formalises a structured partnership where JLG and tenants commit to measurable sustainability-linked targets embedded into the lease. These include joint commitments on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, indoor air quality, the use of green-certified materials, lighting controls, and EV readiness. Both parties share accountability through transparent data sharing and agreed sustainability performance indicators.
Currently, the green lease covers 56% of Menara JLand’s total occupied floor space, with further tenants in active negotiations, which is a strong signal of a growing commitment to ESG-aligned tenancy.
“It’s about setting a new standard for how cities, buildings, and businesses operate within a low-carbon, circular economy,” Akmal added.
