KOTA KINABALU: A heavy downpour late Sunday is causing massive flash floods in many parts of the city.
Flood waters, which started rising at 5pm, have caused traffic congestion in several areas too.
The affected areas include Penampang, Lintas, Bundusan, Foh Sang, Dah Yeh Villa, City Mall, Kepayan, along the federal complex and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) road and Jalan Sulaman.
Police and firemen are monitoring the situation.
As at 7pm, many areas remain impassable to light vehicles.
A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they have not received reports of accidents or casualties due to the flash floods but were keeping a high alert on the situation.
