PETALING JAYA: Property developer Gamuda Land has partnered with children’s education and development service provider KIddypedia to introduce place-based learning centres that take advantage of Gamuda’s townships’ unique environment. 

Under the partnership, Kiddypedia Discovery Centres will be developed in Gamuda Gardens and twentyfive7 townships, offering edu-tainment that integrate sports, arts, STEM workshops and team building exercises. The hubs aim to ignite young minds and foster a lifelong love for learning through active engagement.

Chief operating officer Jess Teng said at the Memorandum of Agreement exchange event that the collaboration aligns with the developer’s commitment to provide more community-based activities. 

“We hope to develop a township with that hometown feel, a place where neighbours from all backgrounds and ages can come together to work, to learn, to shop and to play where lifelong friendships are forged with the people they meet in the community,” she said.

In the upcoming Discovery Centres’, Gamuda Land's facilities such as parks, waterways, lakes and the Wetlands Arboretum will serve as the backdrop for the variety of on-hand educational programmes. These place-based learning programmes, co-developed with Gamuda Parks, hope to expand participants’ knowledge about environment, urban garden management and biodiversity conservation.

The centres will be implementing the 100 Careers Challenge syllabus with role play for the Little Botanist, Little Urban Planner, Little Environmental Architect, Little Marine Biologist, and more. These role plays will offer hands-on experiences designed to reinforce learning and foster interdisciplinary teamwork, immersing participants in real-world challenges. 

Kiddypedia chief executive officer Cavin Tan said Gamuda Land townships’ environment is perfectly suited for their concept of learning. 

The environments enable us to weave the classroom curriculum with the local community, culture, and surroundings, utilising the natural and cultural assets of the area to enhance our learning programs. Through immersive learning experiences that emphasise discovery, experience and play, we aim to deepen children's understanding of the world around them and inspire active participation in their local environment and community," he said. 

As the programmes mature, the partnership will also be exploring plans to visit Gamuda’s Next-Generation Digital Industrialised Building System facility in Banting, as well as field trips to the Wetlands Arboretum Centre at Gamuda Cove, to offer participants a close look at career related to construction and nature conservation. Under the GL Rangers programme for children under 12, members will be enjoying benefits including invitations to engaging activities and events as well as access to exclusive promotions and deals.
