PETALING JAYA: UEM Sunrise Bhd (UEM Sunrise) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LOGOS Infrastructure (LOGOS) to exclusively explore the opportunity to develop a data centre campus in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
The proposed data centre campus will be located on a 74-acre plot in Gerbang Nusajaya in Iskandar Puteri and is planned to offer up to 360 MW of capacity. UEM Sunrise and LOGOS will be exploring collaboration in areas including end-to-end construction management, technical work, and assisting in Government-related processes such as licensing applications and securing state approvals.
In the closed signing ceremony held in Singapore, UEM Sunrise chief executive officer Sufian Abdullah said the group is actively seeking opportunities in the industrial segment.
"We are capitalising on our vast landbank in Iskandar Malaysia, and actively seek synergies and opportunities to develop our Industrial segment. We are committed to establishing the proposed data centre campus together with LOGOS, and confident of its role as a catalyst to Johor’s economic growth," he said.
LOGOS data centre head Paul Dwyer said the company looks forward to working with UEM Sunrise.
“Johor Bahru's strategic location near Singapore, coupled with Malaysia's robust digital infrastructure plans and strong government support, makes it a prime hub for the burgeoning data centre sector in Southeast Asia. This growth is exciting, and we look forward to working in partnership alongside UEM Sunrise and being a key player in this dynamic market,” Dwyer said.
Also present were LOGOS Malaysia head David Aboud, LOGOS Singapore head Chin Yarng, and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Singapore director Vinothan Tulis Nathzan and UEM Sunrise industrial head Mohamad Jalani Mohamad Said.
