PENANG: IJM Land Bhd has once again brought Malaysia to the world stage, clinching the prestigious World Gold award for The Light Collection IV in the Residential Low Rise category at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Award 2025.
Held in Lagos, Nigeria, this international recognition celebrates Penang’s emergence as a destination for world-class waterfront living. The win by The Light Collection IV follows last year’s World Gold title in the same category for Saujana Duta, an elite hilltop residential enclave in Seremban 2.
The FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards honour excellence in real estate, recognising developments that set global benchmarks in architecture and design, development and construction, community-centric benefits and environmental sustainability as judged by an international panel of experts. In this fiercely competitive arena, The Light Collection IV impressed judges with its bold reinterpretation of coastal luxury, its integration of nature and innovation and its transformative impact on Penang’s urban landscape.
As the final phase of The Light Collection residential series, which includes The Light Point and earlier phases I through III, this development was envisioned as the crown jewel of the series. With the win, it stands as a global icon. Perched along the coastline with uninterrupted views of the Straits of Malacca, the Penang Bridge and the Butterworth skyline, The Light Collection IV offers more than a prestigious address. It offers a lifestyle shaped by the rhythm of the sea, refined through the lens of thoughtful design and elevated by sustainable principles.
At the heart of this vision lies the project’s most extraordinary feature – a pioneering marine sanctuary and series of integrated waterways, the first of its kind within a residential development in Malaysia. Designed to mirror the ebb and flow of ocean life, this aquatic feature is not just ornamental; it is a living, breathing ecosystem that redefines the boundaries between land and sea, home and nature.
Speaking on the achievement, IJM Land chief executive officer Datuk Tony Ling Thou Lung described The Light Collection IV as a project that is deeply personal to the company – a development that dares to be different and honours the cultural soul of Penang while advancing the frontier of sustainable luxury.
“We are honoured to receive this prestigious global recognition from an international body like FIABCI. This project encapsulates what we believe is possible when ambition meets purpose. By stepping away from the conventional, we’ve created an overwater residential landmark that elevates Penang’s coastline into a true masterpiece. The Light Collection IV is a beacon of innovation and a symbol of what Malaysia can achieve,” he said.
Occupying 4.86 acres of prime freehold land, this low-density enclave is home to 19 water villas with private pontoons and 79 luxury condominiums — including elegant single-storey units to expansive duplex penthouses. Each residence has been designed to reflect not only architectural sophistication but also the communal warmth and timeless aesthetics found in Penang’s heritage, particularly the traditional Kongsi clan houses that inspire a sense of connection and belonging.
