SEPANG: Over 6,000 attended the 3rd edition of Sunsuria City’s Foodiethon Run organised by Sunsuria Bhd. Runners this year had a choice of participating in either the 5km or 10km categories of the main Foodiethon Run in the morning or the 5km category of the Neon Night Run in the evening, both held on Jan 9.

Sunsuria executive chairman Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, who participated in the main Foodieton with chief operating officer Datuk Simon Kwan, said organising the event is part of Sunsuria’s corporate ethos of making a better place and contributing to sustainability.

“When we started with the first Foodiethon, there was only Xiamen University Malaysia in Sunsuria City. After a few years of progress, we wanted to give back to the community (and) showcase the many developments we have made with reliable quality, from a design perspective to real life,” he said.

The day event was filled with other activities including a Zumba session, family carnival games such as ring hoop throw and bubble blow, quiz games, live busker performances and lucky draws with prizes worth RM10,000.

True to the theme of foodiethon, food stalls and food trucks lined up to offer a wide array of street fares and snacks to foodies as well as to runners to replenish themselves after the run.

The evening Neon Night Run started at 9pm with the flag-off from Sunsuria chief financial officer Eng Kim Haw and healthcare chief executive officer Audrey Ooi.

Runners with glow-in-the-dark sticks in hand lit up the Sunsuria township with a multitude of colours as they progressed along the route. To top off the run’s completion, participants were given a treat of performance by electric violinist Dennis Lau.

“Sunsuria created this event as togetherness is important for sustainable community living. We want to cultivate a healthy lifestyle, and to create more events for buyers or their friends to interact with the developers as we value the community’s feedback,” said Simon Kwan.

“We wish everyone a very Happy New Year and look forward to more Sunsuria events lined up for this year,” he added.
