LONDON: Battersea Power Station has appointed Sisk as the main contractor for Phase 3C of its 42-acre regeneration project which will see two new Gehry Partners-designed buildings constructed along Electric Boulevard.

Work is expected to begin in the summer this year. The development will deliver about 300 homes, 65,000 sq ft of commercial space for shops, cafes and restaurants, a 15,000 sq ft community hub and a free 600-space bike hub.

The project is expected to create 400 jobs with a target for 20% of the workforce to be recruited locally. Battersea Power Station said it has already created 7,500 jobs across the wider development.

The two buildings will extend Prospect Place, the existing Gehry Partners-designed residential development at Battersea Power Station. The new designs will incorporate green roofs and are expected to contribute towards a minimum 10% biodiversity net gain.

“Today’s announcement is an important milestone in realising the vision for this ambitious 42-acre regeneration site. Phase 3C will complete Electric Boulevard, a critical part of the estate which continues to grow from strength to strength with new brand openings, office tenants and a new entrance to our Zone 1 Underground Station which opened last year. We look forward to working with Sisk to add two further Gehry Partners-designed buildings to the inspiring, world-class architecture that defines Electric Boulevard and frames the iconic Grade II listed Power Station,” said Battersea Power Station Development Company chief executive officer James Saunders.

“Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most iconic regeneration projects and we are proud to have been appointed as the main contractor for this next phase of development. This is a significant appointment for Sisk and reflects our growing capability in the UK residential sector. We will bring our expertise in modern methods of construction, offsite delivery and major project execution to Phase 3C while working closely with BPSDC and local partners to create a sustainable impact in the Borough of Wandsworth,” shared Sisk Ireland and UK chief operating officer Steven McGee.

Meanwhile, legal technology company Leap Legal Software signed a 12,500 sq ft lease at 50 Electric Boulevard, increasing its presence in Battersea Power Station from 5,500 sq ft at Circus West Village. This move takes occupancy at the 200,000 sq ft office building to 54%. The power station now hosts over 70 businesses, including Apple's UK headquarters.
