SEREMBAN: The Seremban Sentral transit-oriented development (TOD) is set to generate up to RM300mil annually and create around 2,500 jobs in healthcare, retail, logistics, tourism and services.
“Seremban Sentral is more than just a physical development project. It represents a new chapter that will strengthen the identity of this city as a modern and sustainable economic centre. With the support of the state government, authorities, technical agencies and our development partners, we are shaping not just the future of Seremban but also integrating its heritage values into progress to ensure the successful realisation of this project,” said Transport Minister Anthony Loke at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Phase One features include the Sunway Seremban Medical Centre with over 250 beds next to the Seremban Railway Station, a new shopping mall offering 1.2 million sq ft of retail space and a 300,000 sq ft office tower. Completion is slated for 2030, with Phase Two adding 3.2 million sq ft of residential and commercial spaces from 2029 to 2039. Plans include conserving the Seremban Yard and revitalising the Heritage Market as a cultural attraction.
The development aims to create jobs and significantly boost local revenue, with enhanced connectivity for at least 6,000 daily users. “Sunway aspires to be a strong strategic partner with RAC in this visionary development agenda to drive inclusive, sustainable and equitable economic growth for Negeri Sembilan. This long-term partnership will ensure Seremban Sentral delivers not only economic impact but also broad social and community benefits,” said Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah.
