A mother of two, Kim Kasl, doesn’t feel deprived raising her young children without the benefit of washer, dryer or TV.
Her family chose to live a minimalist life in a portable one-room cottage in Minnesota, United States. She said that the choice has allowed them to get by on one income, to home-school their kids and “instill amazing values – valuing experiences and time together over stuff we store in our house.

The family of four - Kim, husband Ryan, seven year old Sully, six year old Story, as well as their shih tzu named Brinkley, has downsized their 185sqm suburban rambler to a 24sqm house for almost two years now.
Although they had to shed most of their belongings, Kim and Ryan agree that their life now is much more under control. They are free of debt, burdensome belongings and endless household chores.
The Kasls managed to build their tiny house for only about US$30,000 and gets to appreciates the benefit of a simpler life. Kim also does home-schooling for their children.
Ryan said that they have saved a lot of money and gets to free up some funds for travel. They have a had a lot of adventures and new experiences, especially during summer when they get to play outside, have picnic and also have campfire almost every night.
At the moment, Kim is positive that their tiny house is an ideal abode for them. They might outgrow it in the future, but as of right now, their tiny house is perfect.
