GAMUDA GARDENS: Gamuda Land and UCSI University have teamed up to establish the varsity’s fifth campus within the 1,342-acre Gamuda Gardens township. Signing the memorandum of understanding at the Gamuda Gardens Experience Gallery, the new campus is designed to accommodate 2,000 students across 66,000 sq ft.

Gamuda Land chief executive officer Gim Teck Yew said the addition of UCSI University reflects Gamuda Garden’s evolution into a mature, integrated township. “Education has always been a key component of our masterplan, alongside homes, parks, commercial offerings and community spaces. Integrating UCSI University into Gamuda Gardens creates a more complete township that supports long-term community growth and economic vitality,” he said.

The temporary campus is expected to be completed by 2027 and the first intake is expected to kick off in the same year, with the university offering undergraduate courses in business and management, creative arts, computer science as well as electric vehicle (EV) and autonomous mobility.

The 6,000-capacity new campus, sited on a six-acre plot, is expected to be completed by 2031. Gim said the construction cost for the new campus will run in the millions.

UCSI president and vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Siti Hamisah Tapsir said the collaboration would give the residents of Gamuda Gardens and the surrounding communities in Rawang and the Northern Klang Valley corridor better access to higher education.

Pointing out that the fifth campus coincides with the university’s 40th anniversary celebration, she added: “UCSI has always empowered local communities and improved life chances through accessible high-quality education. We look forward to achieving the same impact (in Gamuda Gardens) and we will offer more programmes as the campus grows organically.”

Siti Hamisah also expressed her aspiration to work with Gamuda Land for further collaborations overseas, particularly in Vietnam where the developer has projects, as the varsity has students from the Southeast Asian nation.
