
PETALING JAYA: Berjaya group of companies (Berjaya) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MARA Liner Sdn Bhd (MARA Liner) to empower Bumiputera participation in mobility and rail ecosystem.
The collaboration will be focusing on the three pillars of supply chain localisation, talent development integrating technical and vocational education training (TVET) and entrepreneurial scaling to accelerate the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the MARA ecosystem.
The MoU was signed by Berjaya subsidiaries Selat Abadi Sdn Bhd (Selat Abadi), a private limited company incorporated in Malaysia in 2023 that specialises in AI solutions for integrated management of large infrastructure, asset management and operations as well as Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd (Berjaya Rail), which focuses on high-speed rail development, integrated rail solutions and the driving of transit-oriented development and transit-adjacent development.
"By combining Berjaya’s diverse industrial expertise with MARA’s deep talent pool, we are creating a powerful engine for local economic growth. This is not just about business, it is about building a resilient, self-sustaining Malaysian economy," said Berjaya founder and advisor Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun.
“This partnership provides the industrial framework, supply chain access and commercial strength needed to ensure that Malaysia’s next phase of transformation is one in which Bumiputera participation is meaningful, competitive and sustainable,” said MARA Liner chief executive officer Wan Agyl Wan Hassan.
Also present were Selat Abadi managing director and Berjaya Rail chief executive officer Farizul Hazli bin Baharom.
