MELAKA: Radium Healthcare Sdn Bhd, the healthcare division of Radium Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) to collaborate on clinical training, research and healthcare education. This partnership supports the development of Radium Hospital at Ayer Keroh, a new 140-bed tertiary hospital set to open in 2028 to address local and regional healthcare needs.
The MoU was formalised at MUCM’s campus by Radium Group managing director Datuk Gary Gan and MUCM chief operating officer Gaurav Rekhi. Committed to Building Good, Living Well, Radium Healthcare is prioritising community health and ethical medical practices.
With Melaka's population facing an increasing burden of non-communicable diseases and an ageing demographic, the partnership aims to develop healthcare talent and promote wellness.
“This partnership signals our mutual commitment to training more healthcare professionals and expanding research, especially as Melaka and Malaysia invest in tackling non-communicable diseases and providing quality care for an ageing population,” said MUCM vice chancellor Professor Jayakumar Gurusamy.
“Radium Hospital at Ayer Keroh is being designed as a future-facing community hospital, where technology, ethics and patient wellness intersect. By combining MUCM’s academic strengths and Radium’s operational drive, we aim to address the growing healthcare needs in Melaka, Malaysia and beyond,” added Radium Healthcare chief executive officer Dr Arun Kumar.
Representing Radium Group alongside Gan was executive director Chai Woon Hou. The collaboration takes effect immediately, with both organisations dedicated to strengthening the region’s healthcare system.
