PETALING JAYA: Johor, which made headlines last year as the state with the highest number of overhang properties, now takes the No. 2 spot, after Selangor, with the most transactions sealed in Q1 2018.

According to a report by the National Property Information Centre, of the recorded 10,058 transactions valued at RM4.33bil, Iskandar Malaysia – which combines four major towns (Johor Baru, Kota Tinggi, Pontian and Kulaijaya) – emerged tops with 3,995 transactions, followed by Kluang with 745, Batu Pahat (521) and Muar (480).

“The property market is starting to pick up in 2018 at a slow and steady pace, and moving forward.

“The Johor property market will likely continue to be supported by domestic demand, where properties in the price range of RM400,000 to RM700,000 will be popular,” said the Johor chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents Liew Toh Sen at the presentation of its Property Market Sentiment Report earlier this year.

“All stakeholders in Iskandar Malaysia need to work together in a concerted effort to continue attracting investors,” said Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.
Besides being home to the Southern Economic Corridor, Johor has been in the spotlight due to its proximity to Singapore as well as having the most theme parks in the country.

These factors add up to propel the state to be one of the top draws among investors and buyers alike.

With Johor slowly developing to be the next Klang Valley, StarProperty.my Awards: Jewels of Johor pays homage to real estate developers that have contributed to the industry’s growth.

Back for the second time this year, the awards aim to create greater awareness of Johor properties on top of enhancing the brand value of the state’s players by highlighting their outstanding projects.

Last year’s gems included EcoWorld Development Bhd, Gamuda Land, Country Garden Danga Bay Sdn Bhd, Ipark Development Sdn Bhd and UMLand Bhd.

Registration for this year’s Jewels of Johor awards is open until today.
