PETALING JAYA: When asked about her memories regarding the good old days, Tropicana Corporation Bhd senior general manager marketing and sales Ung Lay Ting remembers spending quality time playing traditional games as a child with her friends and family.
She especially remember the simple pleasures, playing with classic games such as congkak, hopscotch and also the skipping rope.
"It was wonderful to be able to play all those traditional childhood games those days, and it is these simple pleasures that all the children should have access to now," said Ung.
Four of Tropicana's developments within the Klang Valley will play host to an exciting campaign, where 50 games will be made available to the public in each development, and 20 of which are traditional games. The campaign is slated to run for four consecutive weekends in a row, from the last weekend of September to mid-October.
These traditional games will be made available through its Eat.Play.Bond-themed ‘Sama-Sama’ campaign at Tropicana Heights on September 24 and 25, at Tropicana Aman on October 1 and 2, at Tropicana Metropark on October 8 and 9, and at Tropicana Gardens on October 15 and 16.
“It is important to make lasting memories with the children. They will draw on these memories as they get older, as proof that they had a pretty good childhood,” enthused Ung.
With this campaign, she hopes it will bring back some of those simple pleasures to all the families who attend.
“We want to re-create traditional childhood memories through this ‘Sama-Sama’ campaign with a series of traditional games. We want to provide opportunities for parents to create lasting memories with their offspring in the comfort of our four signature developments. These four signature developments essentially encapsulate Tropicana’s unique DNA, one that is built on the cornerstones of accessibility, connectivity, innovative concepts and designs, generous open spaces, amenities, facilities, multi-tiered security and quality,” stated Ung.
Tropicana Heights encompasses 199 acres of freehold land, replete with lush greenery. The development is anchored by a 16-acre Central Park with a 750 meter linear lake, dedicated private community parks, seamless pedestrian walkways, including its very own recreational and commercial hub, all of which are complemented by beautiful landscaping and parkland views.
Tropicana Aman is situated next to the growing affluent neighbourhood of Kota Kemuning. It encompasses 863 acres of idyllic setting that offers an array of facilities and features such as a generous 85-acre central linear park that comes with its own lake, a 7km vehicle-free bike trail, jogging paths and green spaces that draw people into a life of relaxation and peace. It also features a central community clubhouse with a sports centre and the TENBY International School.
Set to transform and elevate the vibrancy of Subang Jaya, the 88-acre Tropicana Metropark offers serviced residences, retail units, business suites, SOHOs, office towers, shopping mall and GEMS International School that will be served by a network of highways, including a new RM106 million flyover that will directly link the development to the Federal Highway which will be ready by 2017. The heart of this integrated project includes a large green oasis of over 9.2 acres for a Central Park, which features a man-made lake, pedestrian promenade and an F&B strip for alfresco indulgence.
“It’s going to be an unmatched lifestyle opportunity for the homeowners who settle down at any of these developments. They will enjoy all the value-added features we are offering,” said Ung.
Situated at strategic locations that is equipped with great facilities, amenities, security, ease of accessibility and connectivity, these developments allow for a more comprehensive and holistic lifestyle. They are also replete with lush greenery that is much bigger than what authorities require of the developer, according to Ung, who said that sustainable living and eco-friendly communities are something the developer has always wanted to promote and create.
“We are excited to see our developments turning into much more of community meeting places in a few years from now. If we can pull it off, we may organise these traditional games at our developments more often because it is not just our memories,” she said.
Ung believes parents want their children to look back on their childhood fondly and she wants to provide these opportunities to these parents. These traditional games will teach the children how to build new social networks, provide early communication opportunities and foster family bonds the old way through face-to-face interaction.
If you are looking for the opportunity to Eat, Play and Bond with your children while reminiscing your own fun childhood with a wide range of fantastic traditional games, visit any of these four sales galleries from 11 am to 5 pm for a fun-filled day with your children.
