PETALING JAYA: Sunway Property has commenced traffic improvement works at the Persiaran Kewajipan roundabout in Subang Jaya in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ), based on findings from in-depth traffic studies and has been designed to improve overall junction efficiency.

The Persiaran Kewajipan roundabout has long been a significant traffic pressure point, bearing the high volume of vehicles moving between Bandar Sunway, SS15, USJ Taipan and surrounding connectivity routes, including the Federal Highway and New Pantai Expressway (NPE). The area serves a wide range of road users daily, including residents, school-going children, visitors to healthcare and educational institutions and commuters traversing the broader Subang Jaya ecosystem.

Key elements of the traffic improvement works include the installation of three smart traffic lights to regulate roundabout inflow and optimise vehicle movement within the roundabout, route reconfiguration works  whereby traffic travelling from the SS15 direction towards Bandar Sunway will be redirected via a U-turn movement after Sri Kuala Lumpur School (in the direction of Subang Jaya Medical Centre), enhancements to two existing U-turn points to improve overall traffic flow and reduce conflict points within the roundabout, and lane widening to improve traffic turning from the Bandar Sunway direction towards USJ Taipan, reducing bottlenecks at a key exit point.

“This upgrade reflects the importance of the Persiaran Kewajipan corridor to the surrounding communities of Subang Jaya and Bandar Sunway. Developed in consultation with traffic specialists and in coordination with MBSJ, the improvements are intended to support smoother traffic flow and safer movement for daily road users,” said Sunway Property chief executive officer Chong Sau Min.

“Our project team has been working closely with the authorities and will continue to manage any disruptions to road users throughout the implementation period. We are confident that these meticulously planned improvements will deliver lasting benefit to all who use and depend on this corridor and we appreciate the patience of all road users throughout this period," he added.

The Persiaran Kewajipan roundabout road works are expected to be completed by year-end 2026.
