SD Guthrie and Sime Darby Property formalise next industrial corridor phase

Azmir says that the phased development allows adaptation to market changes while prioritising sustainability and long-term value.

PETALING JAYA: SD Guthrie Bhd (Guthrie) and Sime Darby Property Bhd (SDP) advanced their strategic collaboration with key agreements to accelerate the development of a next-generation industrial and logistics corridor in Kuala Selangor. The partnership formalised critical milestones, including a proposed land transaction of 1,021.93 acres within Bukit Kerayong Estate in Kapar, Selangor.

The land, which forms part of the larger master development, will be acquired for approximately RM798.3mil. Under the joint venture, Guthrie and SDP will each invest up to RM100mil for a 50% equity participation. The Bukit Kerayong development is envisioned as a next-generation heavy industrial park anchored by logistics and renewable energy infrastructure.

“This collaboration reflects our continued focus on monetising our landbank through synergistic alliances that generate sustainable, long-term returns. The Bukit Kerayong development represents a significant opportunity to catalyse economic growth in the region,  support industrial and commercial activities and create lasting value for stakeholders while aligning with national industrial aspirations,” said Guthrie president and group chief executive officer Haris Arshad.

“This next phase moves our partnership from vision to execution. By integrating Sime Darby  Property's expertise in sustainable master planning with SD Guthrie's strategic landbank, we are building an industrial corridor equipped to meet evolving supply chain demands. This development will directly attract high-value investments, facilitate significant job creation and reinforce Malaysia's industrial competitiveness," added SDP group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmir Merican.

Aligned with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan, the integrated corridor is designed to enable efficient supply chain clustering, attract high-value industries and generate sustainable socioeconomic impact for surrounding communities.
