PLANS are in place to improve road connectivity within Kuala Lumpur by having new roads to link several residential areas with major roads.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said proper link roads would also help spur economic activities in the affected areas.

“There are many ‘missing links’ that we need to resolve, most of which are on the Selangor border such as Titiwangsa as well as the one between Kampung Pandan and Ampang, which is on the Selangor side,” he said, adding that he would talk to the Selangor government about it.

Tengku Adnan said this to reporters after launching a new 700m road connecting Taman Desa Petaling with Kampung Malaysia Tambahan (KMT).

“This new road will also spur economic activity for traders in Taman Desa Petaling as KMT does not have a commercial centre,” said Tengku Adnan.

On the development project near Taman Rimba at Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Tengku Adnan said there would be a townhall session with the residents on Oct 27.

“We will give details about the development in TTDI and explain that it will not affect Taman Rimba.

“Of course, many residents don’t welcome development because of increased traffic but they have to realise that the city is growing.

“I would like to meet people living in elite areas because we have already spoken to those in public housing projects,” said Tengku Adnan, adding that he would meet Bangsar and Damansara Heights residents next to find out their problems.
