PETALING JAYA: NCT Group founder and group managing director Datuk Seri Yap Ngan Choy has been awarded the Sustainability Champion Award by the Sustainable Business Network Association Malaysia (SusNet). The accolade gives recognition to individuals who have made significant, transformative contributions to advancing ESG principles and raising the benchmark for accountable corporate leadership across the Asia Pacific region.
“More than a celebration of leadership, this recognition is a reflection of NCT Group’s vision and passion for creating meaningful, lasting impact through every project we undertake,” Yap said.
Under Yap’s leadership, NCT Group launched the NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP), Malaysia’s first certified Managed Industrial Park in 2023. Spanning 732 acres, NSIP is anchored on smart, integrated and sustainable industrial development. It recently earned a five-diamond rating under the Low Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge, a recognition of its rigorous low-carbon initiatives aimed at reducing baseline carbon emissions by at least 50%.
This milestone underscores NSIP’s comprehensive and disciplined approach to sustainability, with targeted strategies across key areas including energy, water, waste, mobility and greenery.
In addition, NCT Innosphere in Bukit Kayu Hitam recently received a GreenRE Silver Provisional certification. The award was received on Yap’s behalf by group executive director Datuk Joe Yap Fook Choy.
