PETALING JAYA: Property developer Tropicana Corporation Bhd’s (Tropicana) subsidiary Lido Waterfront Boulevard Sdn Bhd has handed over a flood mitigation system in Johor Bahru to the local authority, Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB).

The flood mitigation system was completed in December 2020. This system will aid the Johor government in their flood prevention effort and provide a sigh of relief for the Johor community. This initiative reinforces Tropicana’s commitment to redefining the art of living and caring for the community.

Tropicana group chief executive officer Lee Han Ming said: “Staying true to our Tropicana mantra, we aim to redefine the art of living by providing a safe and wholesome environment for our community to live and prosper. This handover exercise marked an important milestone for our Tropicana development in Lido Waterfront Boulevard, Johor.

“This newly-built flood mitigation system is well-equipped to trap garbage and prevent it from flowing into the sea. This will also help to improve water quality, ending pollution, and saving marine lives.

“To ensure the system works properly, we have also installed a pump control board and SCADA /CCTV monitor system in the pump control room. We are grateful to MBJB’s support, and we are confident that together, we will raise the bar in mitigating flood.”

Johor Chief Minister Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the flood mitigation system would help ease the flood problem faced over the years at the upstream of Sungai Chat and Sungai Abdul Samad.

“This system is beneficial for our Johor community,” he said.

Lido Waterfront Boulevard is a development by the sea which embraces the city lifestyle and waterfront living. Designed to create an integrated waterfront mixed development destination with 2.4km of beautiful coastal promenade in Johor Bahru, this 163-acre development site features a mix of residential serviced apartments, hotels, offices, and retail shopping, complemented by a recreational facility, public park, and an iconic cultural centre.
