THE Indian Progressive Front (IPF) has vowed to change the street signs of Jalan Berhala in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, to Tan Sri M.G. Pandithan if the authorities do not act as promised, Tamil dailies reported.
IPF Utama president M.V. Mathialagan said the name change was announced eight years ago by then MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu in the presence of then Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk M. Saravanan to honour the late IPF president.
The party was also informed that the name change had been gazetted and that the signs would be changed.
However, eight requests to the authorities have supposedly fallen on deaf ears.
IPF was weak in demanding its rights despite working hard to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional in every election, he said.
Mathialagan issued an ultimatum to DBKL, demanding the street name be changed within two weeks, failing which IPF Utama members would carry it out on behalf of DBKL.
