PUCHONG: The Ampang Line LRT extension will now come under a track sector known as the Sri Petaling Line, its project owner Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said.

The company, which runs RapidKL services, said this in a statement just days before the opening of four of its newest LRT stations in Puchong on Monday.

"Prasarana has successfully opened eight of the 11 stations under the Ampang line extension project...Now promoted as the Sri Petaling Line," a Prasarana press release read.

A check with the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) revealed that the Sri Petaling Line will not be limited to the extension's stations alone.

The IOI Puchong Jaya, Pusat Bandar Puchong, Taman Perindustrian Puchong and Bandar Puteri stations will be opened to the public on Apr 1.

Four other stations on the Line were opened to the public in Oct last year.

Prasarana originally planned for the Ampang Line's extension to be fully opened by the end of the month.

The Star previously reported that the other three stations - Puchong Perdana, Puchong Prima and Putra Heights- may be opened by June.

The Kelana Jaya Line extension, which will link with the Ampang Line at Putra Heights, is also expected to be opened in June.

It was added in the release that there are a total of nearly 1,000 car park spaces at three of the four stations (except Bandar Puteri).

The three stations will also have a total of nearly 350 motorcycle bays, and 20 bicycle parking spaces at each station.

The Bandar Puteri station, the release said, will only have drop-off facilities due to a lack of space.

In a later media statement sent to reporters, Prasarana said that the four new stations will be opened one day earlier on March 31.
