It is located northwest of Kuala Lumpur, at an approximate 40-minute drive to the city centre. The Selayang area is approximately half an hour away, while other areas such as Petaling Jaya and Mont Kiara are also about 40 minutes away.The houses in Taman Garing Utama are mostly very well maintained double storey terrace houses. Schools for all ages are also available within the area, while local banking facilities are also aplenty within the Rawang town centre.Taman Garing Utama sits just off the North - South Highway. There are no trunk roads which connects the neighbourhood to town; instead, they are connected via a series of well integrated inner roads. Public transportation is convenient as the Rawang Bus Station is conveniently close by at a 10-minute drive away.

Traffic in Rawang is notorious for being congested at all hours of the day regardless of the day and time. Their roads are also notorious for not being well maintained, despite the continuous road upgrades that have been going on for years now. As such, residents of Taman Garing Utama are also victims to the traffic congestion, and any resident who works in the city will have to leave their houses before the sun rises just to get to work on time.The neighbourhood of Taman Garing Utama is one of the better ones in comparison to some of the older housing developments; and even the new ones which are located too far in the outskirts that travelling to the town centre requires at least half an hour. Houses here are well maintained, and they are only 10 minutes away from amenities and necessities.Taman Garing Utama may not be as good an investment as some speculators hope it to be, as due to the ongoing haphazard development with no rhyme or rhythm at all times causes the traffic to worsen considerably. Even the new developments located just beside the highway with dedicated access roads causes trepidation as the traffic is just too congested to be solved by just a simple access road.
