Section 17 is a freehold housing estate located in Petaling Jaya. It neighbours Section 13, SS2, Glomac Damansara and Desa Kiara. It is located approximately 10 minutes away from PJ State which is the business and commercial hub of Petaling Jaya, while travel to the Kuala Lumpur city centre takes only 20 minutes.The houses in Section 17 of Petaling Jaya consists mainly of double storey terrace houses and bungalows. The local shopping mall is the upscale Jaya 33 as well as Tropicana City Mall.In terms of accessibility, Section 17 is accessible via the Lebuhraya Damansara - Puchong (LDP), and has easy access to Federal Highway, Sprint Highway and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE). The main trunk road that serves the neighbourhood is Jalan Universiti, where there are bus stops on both sides of the road, providing extensive transportation around town.

    Analysis

    Section 17 abuts the Damansara Highway and forms part of the northern boundary of Petaling Jaya. It is one of the largest residential sectors in Petaling Jaya with a good mix of bungalows, link house and terrace houses. It is a favourite place for University Malaya students.Section 17 is located near Eastin Hotel. The major landmarks are Lisa De Inn hotel and a wet market. Across Jalan Universiti is Section 13, one of the dominant business and corporate address in Petaling Jaya and home to many prestigious Malaysian and foreign business such as Colgate Palmolive, Dutch Lady office, Aluminium Company of Malaysia, Philips, Home Expo, UTAR, Sin Chew Jit Poh, Menara Merais and Millennium Court. Other adjoining areas are residential with appropriate supporting facilities. Schools can be found in Section 17A, Section 19 and a short distance away in Section 12, Section 14 and SS2. There is a mosque located in Section 14, Section 16 and SS2, while there are churches and temples in Section 19. It is surrounded by mini markets, food stalls and restaurants too.Overall, Section 17 is and will continue to be an excellent investment area, as it is located in a prime location where land is scarce, where factories such as Fraser & Neave Holdings Berhad (F&N) have even converted their factory in the area to become a commercial area where they will be building a mixed development of shopping mall and serviced apartment.
