The most recent case that involves Hulu Langat will be the landslide that hit the Hidayah Madrasah Al-Taqwa orphanage burying 24 person alive. However, 16 were killed in this recent tragedy and most of them are children. Some have claimed that this tragedy happened because of negligence and over development in the Hulu Langat area. News that has made headlines last year was the case in which the Selangor Government will no longer allow any sort of new development, including housing development projects to be developed near an existing temple. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has also stated that if developers did not notify their buyers of any existing temples within their development project, they must bear the consequences themselves. He also commented that it is not easy to relocate an existing temple.
