Bukit Antarabangsa is one of the elite residential areas in Ampang and it is also called the Beverly Hills of Malaysia because of the many celebrities staying there such as Siti Nurhaliza, Apen, Awie and many more. Apart from the glamorous side of it, Bukit Antarabangsa is also known for the massive landslide tragedy that hit Taman Bukit Mewah on 6th December, 2008 whereby five have been found dead and many other residential areas were also deemed as unfit to live due to the land slide incident. Work has been on going including to stabilize the soils. However, most people still seem to be traumatized from the tragedy. Apart from the landslide tragedy, petty crimes are also one of the social problems in Bukit Antarabangsa. However, a Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) has been formed in few areas of Ampang such as Taman Bukit Utama, Taman Putra, Taman Pertama and Bukit Antarabangsa included to help curb crimes and last year, there is no reported crimes after these areas after the formation of the SRS.
