    IJM has been criticized for having offered a bulk-buying scheme that favors bulk-buyers and persons connected to the developer with dibs on better positioned units at better prices; whereas the average Joe is left with poorly positioned units at a higher price. It is also rumored that the entire block facing the sea was sold en-bloc to a group looking to turn one of the towers into a hotel. Others whom were previous purchasers of IJM Property has lamented that the developer is untrustworthy and unscrupulous in their practice. Platino, IJM's first luxury project in Penang which was previously marketed as a luxury condo had unacceptable finishing with chicken wire mesh for a security wall. There is also a mosque located in the immediate vicinity of the Maritime which will be broadcasting prayers five times daily. Furthermore, the development is built on commercial, leasehold land, therefore the prices of utilities for the residents would be higher and the lease would require renewal after 99 years.
