Desa Setapak is a residential development in Setapak which neighbors other residential area like Wangsa Maju, Wangsa Metroview and Taman Bunga Raya. To its North is the Military Police School (Pusat Latihan Polis Tentera). In general, Desa Setapak is made up of two and three storey terrace houses. It was developed back in the 80's and age does reflect in the condition of some of the houses, while others had undergone renovation to include modern designs. Because of its closeness to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, a lot of the houses here are being rented out to its students and many a times, these students subsequently continued to stay on the rented houses after they had graduated and started working because of familiarity and convenience. Amenities are good especially when it comes to food outlets. As many of the students and young working adults staying nearby do not cook and would eat out, this high demand created many eateries offering good and cheap food. Parking may be a problem though. Nearby shopping centers include Jusco Alpha Angle, Carrefour, Giant and Wangsa Walk Shopping Mall. Desa Setapak is easily accessible via Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway and Middle Ring Road II which makes traveling to Kuala Lumpur city centre and Petaling Jaya. In terms of public transportation, there is the Wangsa Maju Putra LRT station.

Analysis

Despite being old, houses in Desa Setapak still in demand mainly because of the demand from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman students. Surprisingly, crime rate was high in Setapak a couple of years ago, considering that there is a Military Police School nearby. But situation is better now with the implementation of mobile police stations.
