Pudu Sentral, located in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, is the biggest main bus station in the centre of Kuala Lumpur that serves north-bound buses and transit buses from KLIA. It was formerly called Puduraya Terminal and is currently owned by UDA Holdings Berhad.Pudu Sentral had a full scale renovation and was newly reopened in April 2011. It has now got a more modern look on par with an airport. It is not just a regular bus station, it also provides many facilities and services to public. There are 175 units of retail outlets, 16 units for offices, 102 units for ticket counter, 23 platforms, 1 hotel and 10 taxi spots, telecommunication, store, and car wash. Parking is never an issue, as Pudu Sentral has 383 parking space and 123 motorcycle lots.Since its renovation, Pudu Sentral's waiting room has been expanded to contain 1,200 seats across three floors and is fully air-conditioned. All ticketing counters, food court and retail outlets are also air-conditioned. To ensure the liability of schedules and timings, there are enough electronic departure / arrival status screens located in Pudu Sentral.The nearest LRT station to Pudu Sentral is Plaza Rakyat (5 minutes walk) and it has a pathway that goes directly to the station. Pudu Sentral does look very new and modern compared to the old building, but the area where people goes to board the buses is pretty much the same to the old one. Going down the stairs to the busses area might be fearsome for those who are not familiar with the place. Buying tickets could also be confusing for first timers as there are so many ticket counters with unclear labeling.Passengers who with to purchase tickets must be very careful in Pudu Sentral. Avoid buying tickets from touts that are walking and hanging around the station. Those touts will try to convince everyone to buy tickets from them, so make sure that tickets are always purchased from counters that are available in Pudu Sentral. If one would prefer a more comfortable trip, then it would be a wise decision to go to Executive or VIP bus agencies.The great thing about Pudu Sentral is that it has a hotel located in the station itself, so it is very convenient for those who need a place to stay before getting a bus early in the morning or for those who arrive late at night. Also, because the busses there are only from north-bound, the congestion within the station is somewhat reduced.Pudu area is very well known for its congested traffic so taking the LRT might be the fastest way to get to Pudu Sentral. Public should also be aware with their surroundings when walking inside and/or outside Pudu Sentral in order to avoid pick-pocketing and thieving.
