Jinjang Selatan is a residential area located in the district of Kepong which is in Kuala Lumpur and is otherwise known as Jinjang South. Directly neighbouring Jinjang North with Mont Kiara and Dutamas further up, Jinjang Selatan is a well located residential area. Unfortunately the properties here are leasehold, which could discredit its value. Being an old housing development from the pre-war period, these houses completion dates and developers are unknown. Most of the homes in Jinjang Selatan consist mainly of single storey and double storey terrace houses that come in various forms of sizes and built-ups due to its long history and variety of owners performing renovations on their homes. As such their value vary just as widely, with the apartments costing as little of RM68,000 and the houses ranging between RM415,000 and RM1,250,000 while the shops are between RM880,000 to RM2,300,000.As can be seen, Jinjang Selatan offers a wide variety of houses to choose from, and with most of the houses being pre-owned, many of them are being sold partially furnished. Therefore what buyers can expect are houses that come ready with fan and light fixtures, auto gates, kitchen cabinets, hoods and hobs as well as an occasional built in wardrobe. Some of the houses in the newer areas have balconies on the second storey as well.Security in Jinjang Selatan is negligible as there are no gated and guarded areas, hence many of the homes have security systems installed while most of the houses have guard dogs as well. There is a neighbourhood football field which the local children utilise on a daily basis, as well as a playground for the younger ones. The sole shopping mall in Jinjang Selatan is Brem Mall, a shopping centre which looks good from the outside but is scarce on shops on the inside. The adjoining hotel is Crystal Crown which has a branch in Petaling Jaya, and just immediately beside the hotel are two Petronas stations; one for petrol and the other for gas. Within the neighbourhood itself is the local Jinjang South Morning Wet Market at Jalan Jambu Berasa which is heavily patroned by the locals daily. With most of the occupants being mainly of the Chinese nationality, there is an abundance of good eateries in Jinjang Selatan as well as close by outside the neighbourhood. The local primary school is the Jinjang South Chinese Primary School, while the older ones will have to travel to the neighbouring housing area's school.Jinjang Selatan is well connected to the city via a myriad of main roads and highways such as Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Kuching, Duta - Ulu Kelang Highway (DUKE) and Jalan Duta. Public transportation is equally as convenient as there are a high number of public busses that pass by on the main road frequently.

Analysis
Jinjang Selatan is one of the oldest housing developments in Kuala Lumpur, a result from the pre-war British period where heavy relocation of those of the Chinese ethnicity were forcibly moved here to isolate them from the influence of communism. As one of the largest communities moved here, Jinjang Selatan understandably still consists mainly of Chinese nationality.Jinjang Selatan was in the past largely a gangster area where even the authorities did not dare put their foot in in fear of never being able to step out again, but has since modernised into a normal residential area; although the mention of being born and bred here still raises apprehension in some.As a result of the large community that lives in Jinjang Selatan, traffic congestion is a given during peak hours, and especially during Chinese festivals where people from all over Malaysia travel back here to visit their grandparents, especially for the reunion dinner and Chinese New Year.Jinjang Selatan has never been popular as an investment spot due to the fact that the land is leasehold. However, many Chinese nationals like choosing this place as their permanent home due to the comfort of living amongst their own people, as well as the fact that this area is well located, well connected and well supplied with amenities and necessities.
