For the last 2 years, a land owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall at Jalan Senohong, Taman Cantik, Cheras had been sealed off by metal fences. However, since early June, 2011, a solid waste operator tooled down the metal fence and has been dumping solid waste on the land which has turned it into an illegal dump site. Soil, concrete, gravel has been dumped and the residents are complaining about this issue.Residents in Taman Cantik has been tolerating on this act for a while now until a lorry’s side loader accidentally hit several electrical cables which has caused an electric pole to snap and fall into the compound of a resident’s house.The electrical cable lies on top of the resident’s car roof which might propose danger if the cable were to have caught on fire. The power supply in Taman Cantik was also cut off due to this incident. The residents of Taman Cantik has signed a petition stating that they want the illegal dump site permanently closed claiming that the dumping activities has created noise and air pollution.
