Dubbed as the next Mid Valley City, the 60-acre Bangsar South is somewhat an interesting integrated city in the making that comprising a residential, commercial and retail component. One of the developments in the pipeline is The Vertical, a grade 'A' office towers that complemented with landscaped boulevards, water features and pedestrian street for access between buildings. The Vertical is one of three commercial centre phases, the other two are The Horizon which was completed in 2009, and The Sphere which is currently under construction (first phase of The Sphere has just completed). It consists of ten 20-storey commercial towers. It is sited on part of 12.2ha commercial precinct. According to the developer, they have not decided whether to sell it en bloc or keep it as office towers. They added that they might convert two blocks out ten into a hotel and service apartments. Just like The Horizon, The Vertical will also emphasize on green development and will be surrounded by lush greeneries. Bangsar South vicinity is accessible from only Jalan Kerinchi. Via Jalan Kerinchi, one can easily access Federal Highway, New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and Sprint Highway. It is about 7.5km to KLCC Twin Tower, 2.5km to Mid Valley City, 6.4km to Pusat Bandar Damansara and 16km to Subang Jaya.

  • Analysis

This integrated city is well located amidst the bustling hub of the Klang Valley, just in between Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur city centre. With detailed planning and a lot of mojos (read: lucks), it is without a doubt that this integrated city will become a main commercial spot, at the same level as Pusat Bandar Damansara and Mid Valley City. In fact, most entrepreneurs and corporate are trying to stay away from the hectic city centre due to accessibility woes. As The Vertical has not even been launched yet, it is quite hard to tell whether it can make it or not. However, looking at the slow sales of The Horizon, it seems like UOA has to postpone on developing The Vertical. The reason is there is still abundance of vacant and new grade A office towers in Klang Valley including their own The Horizon and others, such as Tropicana CIty Tropics, PJ Trade Centre and 10 Boulevard.
