Tittot crystal captures the spirit of tigers

Taiwan-based crystal glass maker Tittot launched a collection that drew inspiration from fearless animals that represent this year's cycle acoording to the Chinese calender: tigers.

The collection, aptly entitled Thunderous Force and Five Tiger Forces, celebrates tigers as a force of nature that are admired for qualities associated with them such as courage, audacity and power.

Tittot, whose crystal pieces are favourite among big names such as Bill Gates, Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, Tun Dr Mahatir Mohamad, Jet Li and Jennifer Lopez, is known for its multiple layer of colours that result in outstanding crystal arts.

Using century-old technique used to produce snuff bottles during Ching Dynasty, Tittot craftmanship is both exquisite and intricate. It is this unique technique that sets Tittot apart from other crystal makers.

The creative concept behind the Thunderous Force collection centres around the prowess of the beast, which is brilliantly accentuated by minimal, strong and well-executed lines and cutting. When observed closely, the pieces in this collection captivate both physical and emotional characteristics of the animal that would command awe and respect a tiger rightly deserves.

Take, for instance, the Winged Tiger. A distinctive and contemporary limited edition piece from the Thunderous Force collection, the Winged tiger sports a striking blend of maroon, brown and gold colours, that reflects the spirit of confidence at its best.

Take a closer look at the facial expression and you know that there is an integrity this animal is guarding through the intimidating roar. With gold armour on its back, the Winged Tiger is meant to represent strength and intellect. Priced at RM8,600, there are only 388 pieces available.

L-R: Harmony & Prosperity (RM3,080), Prowess of a Tiger (RM4,880), Roar of Triumph (RM4,380) and Tiger of Fortune (RM700) from the Thunderstorm Force collection.

Other pieces from Thunderous Force collection include Crouching Tiger (in black and translucent), Good Fortune, Harmony & Prosperity, Prowess of a Tiger, Roar of Triumph and Tiger of Fortune. The price for this collection varies from RM650 to RM4,880.

While Thunderous Force collection is more invigorating, the Five Tiger Forces collection is more endearing. It consists of five half-tiger-half-human figurines, symbolising the hybrid of contemporary elements and the Chinese zodiac tradition.

The figurines are shaped to represent the endeavours and aspirations of individuals, including ‘Victory’, ‘Prosperity’, ‘Wealth’, ‘Longevity’ and ‘Wisdom’. Each figurine is priced at RM580.
