Modern and chic designs
Think of wallcoverings and the image that springs to mind is typically that of a classic and old fashioned looking Western home, but this stereotype is a thing of the past, with Maxim Wallcoverings (Maxim) bringing you fresh and creative designs that are perfect for the modern household.
Imported from South Korea, Maxim offers a wide range of contemporary designs that are intricately detailed. Printed with high-quality technology, it captures even the textures of every design.
Being the sole distributor worldwide, Maxim believe that its 5,000 over designs carry a distinctive style that complements the contemporary Asian home.
Benjamin Goon, the brand’s sales and marketing director says, “The Korean style is more bold and decorative, with bigger prints that often stand out.”
Thanks to 80 dedicated artists, new designs are introduced every spring and autumn through the Kara and Ezen selections. Known for its exquisite floral designs, the selections include modern abstract patterns, nature-inspired motifs and designs for children’s rooms. Apart from that, Maxim also offers classic European and American designs with a modern and updated look.
For those who are environment conscious, Maxim has an Elite range where the material is made from precise corn powder and has no chemical reaction or smell.
According to Goon, there is now demand for glittery and shimmery wallcoverings. He also adds that Malaysians generally prefer bold colours. Currently, Maxim’s most popular design is Butterfly Orchids, an intricate and beautiful design that just captures your attention. The depth and textures in the flowers’ soft petals and stems brings the image to life.
Durable and low-maintenance wall coverings
“Wallcoverings used to be impractical and high in maintenance, so people avoided it,” says Goon. He also pointed out that the new materials used makes wall coverings highly durable and low in maintenance.
“Previously, wallcoverings were only printed on paper but technological advancement has allowed Maxim to use vinyl front paper backing that is much more durable,” he adds.
Another reason why those living in Malaysia used to avoid wallcoverings was the glue’s inability to last.
“The glue used then did not suit our country’s humid climate, and so the wallcoverings started peeling off,” Goon explains. However, that is no longer a problem as Maxim uses a powdered form of glue that is ideal for Malaysian weather.
A unique thing about Maxim is its wallcovering dimensions. Each roll is 42 inches, which is double the normal wall covering size. The length is 15.6 metres, longer than the usual 10 metres. Thus, each MW roll covers at least three times the size of what the usual wallcovering covers.
Maxim prides itself for its top quality designs, yet the wallcoverings offered are at affordable prices. Goon says, “We chose not to make any money from the installation service and waive the mark-up price. We seek to stay competitive by merely arranging the installation service, which is outsourced without any profit at all”.
For the Kara and Ezen selection, each roll is priced at RM798, while the Elite selection is priced at RM898.
The wall covering method is not only a great way to personalise any space, it adds depth to an otherwise ordinary room. With its outstanding designs and affordable prices, Maxim Wallcoverings will certainly redefine your living space.
