MBSA lends a helping hand to 150 underprivileged folk
THE Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), with the cooperation of the residents’ representative council (MPP), hosted a breaking of fast for the underprivileged community recently.
The buka puasa function was held at the Denai Alam Recreation and Riding Club in Section U16, Shah Alam.
Some 150 individuals from the underprivileged group such as single mothers, orphans and the disabled, received contributions in the form of basic necessities like cooking oil, rice and dry food, as well as RM50 pocket money each.
The event was part of the MBSA’s annual activities aimed at helping the underprivileged to fulfil their fasting obligations.
The council also hoped that the aid would help ease any financial difficulty they may be facing to prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
As a responsible and caring local government, this programme is part of the MBSA’s social responsibilities to the community in creating a loving and caring society, especially to ensure that the underprivileged are not forgotten.
Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mazalan Md Noor presented the contributions.
Also present were MBSA councillors and staff.
Those from the Muslim community also performed terawih prayers, while Ustaz Mohamad Abdullah presented a tazkirah session.
The function was held in line with the MBSA’s Sustainable Development Programme (Local Agenda 21 Shah Alam), which encourages community participation in social and community activities.
The council hoped that such events would help enhance goodwill and communication between the MBSA and residents in efforts to develop Shah Alam into an innovative city.
