No progress over Indian families’ land title request
INDIAN families living in Sekinchan since the 1950s claim they are been ignored by the authorities over land titles.
Malaysian Nanban quoted their spokesman M. Arjunan as saying the families had written to the previous and present state government as well as the Prime Minister on this but the Prime Minister’s office replied that land was under the purview of the state government.
Arjunan said they also wrote two letters to state executive councillor Dr Xavier Jeyakumar but did not receive any reply.
Sekinchan state assemblyman Ng Suee Lim, however, said Dr Xavier would meet the families soon.
Arjunan said the previous Sabak Bernam district officer had promised them alternative land in March, but he was later transferred.
His replacement, he said, had told the families that the matter needed to be studied first.
