Hut owner told to move out

CHECKS by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) have confirmed that the abandoned pond in the fenced-up area behind Bella Vista Condominium in Taman Cahaya, Ampang is illegally built by the nearby hut owner.

StarMetro highlighted the issue on July 26 in its article headlined “Clean it up” where residents complained of the mosquitoes and improper use of the land.

According to MPAJ public relations officer Norhayati Ahmad, the land is meant to be an open space and the hut owner has been issued a notice to move out.

“Council officers found on March 16 that the land owned by the developer, Jebcon Sdn Bhd, is rented out to the hut owner for farming and fish rearing activities,” she said, adding that council approval was not sought over this.

The site visit by the officers also found mosquito-breeding spots and stray dogs in the area

“Officers caught five strays during our investigation into the matter and issued compounds for the mosquito larvae found,” Norhayati said.

She added that the developer was given a warning to maintain the location to avoid stricter action.
