British house prices fall further in June: survey

British house prices dropped for a third month in a row in June after rising at the start of 2010, data from a top home-loans provider showed on Thursday.

"House prices fell by 0.6 percent in June following a similar decline in May," said Martin Ellis, economist at leading mortgage provider Halifax.

"This pattern is in line with our view that house prices will be broadly unchanged over 2010 as a whole," he added in a statement.

Halifax, part of state-controlled Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), said the average house price in Britain stood at 166,203 pounds (199,178 euros, 251,893 dollars).
