PEOPLE from all walks of life were taught the importance of caring for the environment at the Regreen the Earth initiative at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur last Saturday.
In line with Earth Day, a joint initiative between Pavilion KL and Origins was held to highlight as well as create awareness on the significance of preserving Mother Earth.
“Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is fundamental to humanity and should be a core value for all businesses to be successful.
“Pavilion KL’s CSR initiatives have helped to rebuild and develop communities. Educational initiatives such as this are also part of our CSR programme to raise community awareness.
‘‘As we become aware of our impact on the world, more efforts are being put into the preservation of our Earth.
“Pavilion KL is keen to do its part to help sustain the environment,” said Pavilion KL CEO (Retail) Joyce Yap.
“This initiative is aimed at instilling the knowledge to care for our environment especially amongst the young as they will one day be our nation’s leaders,” Yap added.
Pavilion KL took the opportunity to invite its 400 Pavilion Junior members to join in Earth Day celebrations.
They were encouraged to bring recyclable materials from home and through arts and crafts, turned trash to artistic treasure.
Some of the recyclable items that the members brought were aluminium cans, boxes, ribbons and more.
They decorated cardboard trees with their recyclable ornaments, which are on display at Pavilion KL until Sunday.
“Pavilion Junior Club was created with the intention of providing the younger generation with a platform of learning through relevant activities involving arts and crafts, learning and games.
“This initiative is one such example where our Pavilion Juniors get to learn through interactive activities about preserving the environment, and the meaning behind it,” Pavilion KL senior public relations manager Nikola Hassan said.
The Pavilion Junior Club membership is offered to children aged four to 12 with a minimum purchase of RM100 in a single receipt.
Participating members also received an Origins reusable goodie bag filled with special treats for their efforts.
Parents and shoppers alike were seen fully engrossed in the event as they gave their full support.
Celebrity and TV personality Will Quah added a special touch to the event
