| Chipping in: Even the young came to help plant the 400 trees during the clean-up and beautifying event that took place around the lake in Taman Bukit Mulia in Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang. |
About 400 trees, given by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), have been planted in the area surrounding the lake in Taman Bukit Mulia in Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang.
Taman Bukit Mulia Residents Association chairman Amin Osman said there were about 5,000 residents living in the area, including those from the nearby Villaria and Villa Duta condominium blocks.
“We have been asking for years now for the local council to do something about the lake,” he said.
He added that the lake, which was filled with rubbish, was cleaned up last December.
Bukit Antarabangsa MP Azmin Ali said the lake was cleaned up in a joint effort between MPAJ, the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) and residents’ committee.
Azmin, Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, MPAJ Zone 5 councillor Izzuddin Che Din, council workers and residents all got together to further clean-up and beautify the area.
“MPAJ also provided the tools to plant the trees during the gotong-royong event,” Azmin added.
He also said the residents wanted the multi-purpose hall in their area repaired.
“The hall was built seven years ago. It has to be upgraded. I have asked the residents association to write in and I will look into the matter,” Azmin said.
