Minister: Set up libraries in temples
TEMPLES throughout the country should set up libraries within their vicinity to allow devotees to gain knowledge on Indian customs and traditions, Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk M. Saravanan said.
Makkal Osai quoted him as saying that temple committees should also look into conducting religious and moral classes for youngsters.
He said parents must encourage their children to attend these classes so that they could be well-versed in Indian practices and traditions.
Speaking to reporters after attending a donation drive for the Sri Maha Kaliam-man Temple in Serdang on Saturday, he said many youngsters got into social problems as they lacked proper guidance from their parents and teachers.
Malaysia Nanban reported that south Indian actor Ajith Kumar had become the latest Indian participant to the Formula 2 (F2) European season on April 16. He is the third Indian after Armaan Ebrahim and Parthiva Sureshwaran to join the F2 grid.
Ajith, who turns 39 on May 1, was an active racer before switching to films. He had earlier taken part in Formula BMW Asia in 2003 and the British F3 series in 2004.
