RESIDENTS in Taman Kasturi, Batu 9, Cheras are worried about their safety and health as the area has became a location for car thieves to discard stolen cars after the valuable parts were harvested.
Resident Low Yoke Moi said that the cars had been abandoned in the area since last year.
“The most recent one was on the fifth day of Chinese New Year. The thieves tried to burn a car and my neighbour saw the smoke around 6am.
“The dumped cars have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. We hope that the cars are removed,” she said.
She added that crime case were on the increase recently.
“My neighbour was tailed by motorcyclists on her way back from work one night. They turned back when she reached the guard house. We are afraid to go out at night as this area is quite dark.
Kajang municipal councillor Lee Ah Seng said the MPKj enforcement officers would notify the owners to collect the cars.
“The cars were stolen elsewhere and were probably abandoned along this stretch in Tamam Kasturi because it is not well lit at night. Similar cases are happening in Bandar Mahkota Cheras as well,” he said during a visit to the site with MPKj enforcement officers.
