A FAMILY in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam got a rude shock on Wednesday when they were awaken by a loud thud in their bedroom on Wednesday.
Tony Clement, his wife and their son were sleeping in the master bedroom when chunks of cement fell from the ceiling.
“We saw chunks of cement scattered around the floor and on our mattress.
“We looked up and saw a big hole in the ceiling.
“The cement fell less than a feet away from my head and luckily my wife and son who were sleeping on another mattress on the floor were spared.
“I am thankful that we did not experience injuries in the accident,” he said.
The cement chunk was believed to have hit the ceiling first and then broke into smaller pieces before hitting the floor.
It is believed that construction workers could have left the rubble on the ceiling.
Clement said since then his family have been sleeping in the living room downstairs.
“This incident has raised concerns about our home,” he said.
Clement and the other two houseowners, who declined to be named, were unhappy with the quality of their houses which were completed one-and-a-half years ago.
“There are cracks on the front yard walls and staircases of the new double-storey houses,” he said.
Clement wants the developer to determine the cause of the accident and rectify the problems.
