Century-old temple gets new look
THE 100-year old Sri Nageswari Amman temple in Ladang Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, has been given a RM500,000 facelift.
The temple will celebrate its consecration ceremony (maha kumbaavishegam) tomorrow.
Temple committee chairman T. Muniandy said more than 10,000 devotees were expected to attend the ceremony.
He said this was the third kumbavishegam for the temple.
Muniandy said the renovation was a major one and was completed using 100% local resources.
“It was completed in 100 days and we have given the temple a new look.
“The koburam is visible from inside the premises and its inner sanctum has been also elevated and devotees will have to climb 18 steps to reach it,’’ he said.
He said another special feature was the nine statues of Vinayagar outside the temple.
“The existence of a water feature inside the temple premises gives devotees a soothing feeling,’’ he said.
